Activity 1: How does emotion show through body language? (Observation)

​Possible Answers

​Summary: Observing how your own body reflects the emotion you are feeling is a useful first step towards understanding a patient’s body language.
Emotion Type
These are typical body reactions to this emotion. Did you feel any of these?
Happiness
Legs are apart with even balance of body weight, knees loose, stomach relaxed, breathing easily, open shoulders, smile on face
Sad​dness
Shoulders hunched forward, head lowered, brow furrowed, slower movements
Anger
Tension in body, shaking head, jaw clenched, sharp, aggressive movements
Nervousness
Tension in body, butterflies in stomach, heart racing, breathing more difficult, red blotches on skin, can't stand still
